Second Wind Dreams Founder Receives Patent

P.K. Beville, the founder and CEO of the East Cobb-based Second Wind Dreams, has been granted a patent for creating a sensitivity training program connected to Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
The Virtual Dementia Tour has been experienced by more than 500,000 people in 17 countries. The program is designed to build a greater understanding of dementia through the use of patented sensory tools and instruction. Β
According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, Bevilleβs βSystems and Methods for Simulating Effects of Age-Related Cognitive or Physical Declineβ provides βa system for allowing a user to experience a simulation of an age-related medical condition.β

βThe solution to Alzheimerβs disease today and in the foreseeable future is in developing a better and more personal understanding of the day-to-day challenges facing those with the disease,β Beville said. βThe Virtual Dementia Tour program is the tool that makes that understanding possible.β Β

Proceeds from the sale of Virtual Dementia Tour program go to support Second Wind Dreams, international nonprofit organization located on Shallowford Road in East Cobb.
It has been recognized as the first in the nation to be committed to changing the perception of aging through the fulfillment of dreams for elders.
