Accident on Main Street Results in 'Heavy Damage' to Vehicles

A 1993 GMC Sierra was struck from behind by a 2001 Jeep Cherokee on South Main Street near Dooley Street on Monday, Jan. 14, around 1 p.m.

According to a news released from Watkinsville Police Chief Lee O'Dillon, neither driver was injured but both vehicles suffered heavy damage. 

A 21-year-old Roswell man was charged with following too closely.

O'Dillon also noted the following incidents in the news release:

• Police stopped a 1995 Ford Ranger on New High Shoals Road near Harden Hill Road on Wednesday evening after learning that the driver did not have a valid license. Chad Avery Ruark, 39, of Carson Graves Road, was charged with driving on a suspended license. He was booked and then turned over to the Athens- Clarke County Sheriff’s Department on an outstanding arrest warrant.

• A 2005 Ford Explorer was bumped from behind by a 2006 Honda Pilot on Ga. Highway 15 at Industrial Boulevard on Thursday morning. Neither driver was injured and only minor damage was done.

• Around 8 p.m. on Thursday, police were called to Whitehall Road at Calls Creek Drive after a 2002 Infinity bumped a 2003 Ford Thunderbird.  Neither driver was injured. A 21-year-old Alpharetta woman was charged with failure to yield to the right of way.

• On Saturday, officers were called to domestic situations on Jackson Street and VFW Drive.  Both situations were pacified.

Watkinsville police responded to a total of 34 calls within city limits between Jan. 14-20, 2013.
