The 12th Oconee After Prom will be held overnight April 20 at North Oconee High School, following the proms for both Oconee County High School and North Oconee High
School. The event begins at 11:30 p.m. the night of the proms and ends at 6 a.m. April 21.
Tammy Gilland and Chuck Toney are co-chairs of the palling committee, which is made up of parents, teachers and administrators from both schools. The purpose of the event is to provide a safe and fun environment for students following the prom.
“This is truly a community event, and the Oconee County community comes together every year to support After Prom, “said Toney. “We are very grateful for the financial support, in-kind donations and volunteer service that the community provides to make this event a success every
year.”
Activities range from inflatables to sporting events to video games to movies and karaoke. Food, soft drinks and snacks are available throughout the night, and drawings for gift cards are held regularly, leading up to the final cash prizes awarded at the end of the night.
Financial contributions are still being accepted, and there are volunteer slots available. Volunteers need not work an overnight shift – the evening is split into two shifts, and there are needs throughout the day April 20. Please contact Toney if you are interested in volunteering or
contributing financially.
