Arrest Made in Murder of Waffle House Waitress

A 78-year-old man is accused of killing the 38-year-old mother from Oglethorpe County.

A 78-year-old Oconee County man has been arrested in connection with the May 29 murder of Misty Myrick, 38, an Oglethorpe County resident whose body was found on Simonton Bridge Road. 

Talmadge Edward Powell was arrested early Saturday morning without incident at his Lavista Road home. 

Myrick's body was discovered shortly before 2:30 p.m. May 29 between Broadlands Drive and Norton Road. According to Chief Deputy Lee Weems, she was found with one gunshot wound to the back.
