'Numerous' Computers Taken in Cobb Child Porn Operation - Kennesaw Patch

The Cobb County Police Department seizedΒ "numerous" computers as part of a multi-agency operation that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman called the "largest of its kind in Georgia."

During a three-month investigation that began in January,Β theΒ GBI and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force identified 98 suspects who distributed child porn over the Internet,Β GBI spokesman John Bankhead said Wednesday.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, andΒ theΒ Cobb County Police DepartmentΒ was one of 47 federal, state and local agencies that executed search warrants today against people suspected of distributing child porn over the Internet.

Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident on South Marietta Parkway - Marietta Patch

AΒ bicyclist was killed in aΒ hit-and-run accidentΒ on South Marietta Parkway Wednesday morning, according to theΒ The Marietta Daily JournalΒ andWSBTVΒ andΒ 11Alive.Β 

TheΒ bicyclist was struck by a vehicle near the Cobb Community Transit bus terminal on South Marietta Parkway.

The victim, Joseph "Deaf Joe" Gathambiri, was a native Kenyan. He worked at a Burger King in Marietta, according to theΒ Atlanta Journal Constitution.Β

State Recommends Firing Art Professor for Alleged Sexual Encounter with a UGA Student - Athens Patch

An alleged sexual encounter with a UGA student during a Maymester in Costa Rica could cost tenured art professor James "Jim" Barsness his job.

According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, Barsness is a faculty member of the Lamar Dodd School of Art who went with UGA students to a Maymester in Costa Rica in 2012. There, the story says, quoting documents, Barsness is alleged to have had a β€œpublic sexual encounter” with a student.

Other students saw Barness's alleged sexual encounter with the student, who was under his supervision, the story says, and this caused "substantial disruption" in the program.

2 More Women Accuse Waffle House CEO of Sexual Impropriety - Buckhead Patch

New court documents filed by the attorneys of a former female personal assistant for Waffle House board chairman Joe Rogers Jr. reveal that two other women have accused the Buckhead resident of sexual impropriety.

Both Rogers and Mye Brindle, an Acworth woman employed by Rogers from 2003 until June 2012, have filed lawsuits against each other.

Brindle accuses Rogers of forcing her to have sex with himΒ during her time as his employee, and Rogers accuses Brindle of attempted extortion to get money from him with threats ofΒ releasing sex tapes she had made of the two together. Rogers hasΒ admitted to a consensual sexual relationship with Brindle.

According to Cherrix Casting ATL's Facebook page, extras are needed in Monroe, Ga. on April 17, 2013 to work as graduates, teachers, parents, siblings and other parts in the "Vampire Diaries." The age requirement is between the ages of 18 to 65.

Applicants are required to live within driving distance - carpooling also is encouraged. Pay is given as $58 for eight hours with overtime pay after eight hours.

Ceremony Honors Anne Frank Exhibit - Sandy Springs Patch

The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust held a ceremony this week to recognize the extension of the Anne Frank Exhibit in Sandy Springs.Β 

New pieces are planned for display. β€œThe Anne Frank in the World: 1929-1945” exhibit opened at Parkside shopping Center, in Sandy Springs in February 2010.
