Leaky Tanker Truck Leads to Warrant Arrest

While investigating a leaky tanker truck on Aug. 15, Watkinsville Police arrested a Blairsville man on an outstanding warrant.

According to Police Chief Lee O'Dillon, officers stopped a 1995 Peterbilt tanker truck on North Main Street just before 4:30 p.m. after observing a large amount of liquid spilling from the truck. 


The liquid that spilled from the tank turned out to be water leaking due to damage from a previous accident, O'Dillon said in a news release.  

A routine computer check revealed that the truck driver’s 
license was suspended, and it also showed that William Owen Lawson, 33,  was wanted in Union County on a child neglect arrest warrant.  Lawson was booked into the Oconee County Jail awaiting pick-up by the Union County  Sheriff’s Department.

The tanker truck was properly drained into another container and the truck was turned over to another driver for the company, he said.
