Man Threatens Oconee Walmart Employee Over Counterfeit Bills

The fake twenties were taken into evidence by the Oconee County Sheriff's Office.

An employee of Walmart on Epps Bridge Parkway Tuesday reportedly was threatened after refusing to return suspected counterfeit money to two customers.

It happened around 7:30 p.m., according to an incident report. Store security personnel told Oconee County Sheriff's deputies the clerk became suspicious of the five $20 bills when a man tried to pay for some items.Β 

The man demanded the bills be returned to him, the report states, but the clerk refused and the man left the store.Β

Then another man approached the clerk about the bills, this time threatening to beat the clerk up while grabbing the clerk's hand in a failed attempt to snatch the bills.Β  He, too, then ran out of the store.

The bills were retained by deputies and entered into evidence.Β  An investigation is underway.
