Motor Carrier Compliance Officer Charges Driver of Tractor-Trailer Involved in 441 Accident

The driver was charged with driving a commercial vehicle without a valid commercial driver's license, and a violation of DPS Transportation Rules for having had two slick tires on the rig.

The Georgia Department of Public Safety Motor Carrier Compliance Division has charged the 44-year-old Conyers man who wrecked a tractor-trailer on US Highway 441 south of Farmington Friday.  The 8 a.m. accident

According to a public information officer from the State Patrol, the truck was traveling northbound when the driver ran off onto the east shoulder of the highway. He over-corrected, causing the vehicle to travel across the southbound lane, onto the west shoulder, and strike a tree as it overturned.

Earlier reports indicated the driver wasn't injured; however, the trooper's report noted the man had injury complaints.

A DPS Motor Carrier Compliance Officer charged the driver with driving a commercial vehicle without a valid commercial driver's license, and a violation of DPS Transportation Rules for having had two slick tires on the rig.

The crash was investigated by the Georgia State Patrol and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division. Oconee County Sheriff's deputies and Fire and Rescue personnel assisted in clearing the wreckage and Department of Transportation workers also responded.
