• Watkinsville teen's wild ride through Athens (classiccitynews.com) — A Watkinsville teenager faces multiple charges after police say he led officers on a late-night car chase from downtown Athens that ended on a University of Georgia sorority lawn. Officers reported finding alcohol, fake IDs, and numerous THC vape pens in the vehicle before arresting the 17-year-old Oconee County resident, who has since been released on bond. 
• First woman elected to Congress had longtime Georgia connections (gpb.org) — Watkinsville gets a brief but notable mention in a new biography of Jeannette Rankin, the first woman elected to Congress, who once lived in both Bogart and Watkinsville between the world wars. The book and interview focus on her lifelong push for peace, women’s rights, and democratic reforms like ranked-choice voting, while highlighting her personal affection for the Athens-area communities she called home.
