Deputies Break up Party on New Year's Eve at Vacant Oconee Co. Home

Some juveniles in Oconee County rang in the New Year in hot water after authorities say they found them trespassing at a vacant house in a remote area of Tarpley Lane. 

According to an incident report, neighbors reported the activity shortly before 11 p.m. on Dec. 31. As Sheriff's Office deputies arrived, they say they witnessed numerous vehicles leaving the area and juveniles running away through the woods.

Several of the juveniles were detained, one of which appeared intoxicated, according to the report. The number of juveniles involved wasn't listed in the report and neither were their ages.

"The home was littered inside with alcoholic beverage containers, and a fire was burning in the fireplace, but nothing appeared to be damaged," a deputy wrote, noting that sealed alcoholic beverages were destroyed and the fire was put out by authorities. 

Deputies were unable to immediately reach the property owner, so the juveniles were warned about criminal trespass and released to their parents and the one was also warned about underage drinking.  No further action was taken that night.
