Oconee Rotary's annual awards breakfast and a ribbon cutting at a local car dealership are a few of the things to know about in and around Oconee today.

Weather: Another hot, sunny day is ahead of us.  The Weather Channel predicts a high of 90 degrees and only a 10 percent chance of a rain shower.

Observances: This day, June 19, is set aside to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States as Juneteenth. Read about the history of Juneteenth and make plans to attend a local celebration —  the Northeast Georgia Black Leadership Council will hold its first Northeast Georgia Juneteenth festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at the Winder Picnic Pavilion.

  • The of Oconee County's annual meeting and awards breakfast takes place at 7 a.m. in the .  Guests are welcome to attend at a cost of $5 per person.
