Oconee Today -- June 20

It's the first official day of summer!

Weather: Another dose of sunshine is in today's forecast.  The National Weather Service predicts we'll see highs in the low 90s. The next chance of showers (20 percent) comes on Saturday.

Observances: Happy Summer Solstice! Today is the first day of summer and the longest day of daylight for those of us living in the northern hemisphere.

The summer solstice occurs when the earth's axial tilt is closest to the sun. Did you know that in the Arctic Circle, there will be 24 hours of daylight, and in Antarctica there will be 24 hours of nighttime?
