📰 News we're reading

• Proposed grocery store gets favorable recommendation (oconeeenterprise.com) — A new locally owned grocery store and family restaurant, “Market Station,” has cleared its first hurdle and now heads to Oconee commissioners for a Jan. 6 zoning vote, potentially adding gas pumps and a pavilion near the widened Experiment Station Road. With plans to serve south-side residents and traffic already reshaping the route toward downtown Watkinsville, this project could significantly change nearby shopping, driving patterns, and future development.

• Meet UGA's 2026 Bulldog 100 (savannahceo.com) — Several Watkinsville-based companies, including Arch Legacy Firm, Pathwise CPA Group, and Pitman and Greer Engineering, have been named to UGA’s 2026 Bulldog 100 list of fastest-growing alumni-led businesses. The honor highlights local firms alongside peers across Georgia and the nation, with a celebration planned in Athens this February.
