Update: Pedestrian Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle

A 14-year-old girl was transported to an area hospital for treatment Tuesday.

Authorities say a vehicle struck a pedestrian shortly after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Simonton Road at Friar Road.

Fourteen-year-old Cheyenne Anderson from Watkinsville darted into the path of an oncoming Honda Accord on Simonton Road and was hit, according to a public information officer with the Georgia State Patrol. The driver, Hannah Ruth Pollett, 23, of Bishop, was not charged. The teen was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center for treatment but details about the nature of her injuries were not released.
