Watkinsville Police: $12,000 Worth of Jewelry Stolen During House Party

Watkinsville Police were called to a Whitehall Road residence to investigate a theft of more than $12,000 worth of jewelry Saturday evening, according to a news release from Chief Lee O'Dillon.
The victim told officers she had hosted a party at her house and, after everyone left, she realized $12,200 worth of her jewelry was missing. The jewelry had been stolen from a closed bedroom.

A list of guests is being compiled and the case is under investigation.

- On Friday, April 13, police charged Coleman Williams, 48, of Douglasville, with forgery in the first degree. The charges resulted from an August 29, 2011 incident where Williams is accused of passing a forged check at Athens First Bank on Ga. Highway 15. Several area banks suffered a rash of stolen and forged checks last fall and Williams is facing similar charges in multiple jurisdictions.
- Sunday night, April 15, a resident of McRee Street reported that someone had entered and searched his apartment while he was away for the weekend. Nothing seemed to be missing.
Watkinsville police responded to a total of 29 calls within city limits between Monday, April 9 through Sunday, April 15.
