A Sweet Homecoming for Centennial

The Knights got their first win of the season, but Roswell and Fellowship Christian lost on Friday.

Homecoming couldn't come fast enough -- or early enough in the season -- for the Centennial Knights, who used the occasion on Friday to earn their first win.

They defeated Johns Creek 45-34 but had to rally to go ahead in the second half. A 62-yard touchdown from Caden Herring on a screen play early in the fourth quarter gave the Knights the final push they needed to go to 1-3.

Centennial also is 1-0 in Region 5-AAAAAA and will play West Forsyth next week.

Roswell was trying to keep a winning streak going after beating Johns Creek last week, but visiting Milton didn't give the Hornets much of a chance.

Milton ruined Roswell's home game with a 33-3 win, as the Hornets dropped to 2-2 and 0-1 in Region 5-AAAAAA. They play at Etowah next week.

Fellowship Christian's strong start was halted in a 41-0 loss at Heritage Christian of Dalton.

The Paladins, 3-1, are off next week before playing host to Whitefield Christian for Homecoming on Oct. 4.
