'The Paris Wife' author will headline two Roswell Reads events on Jan. 10 for writers and readers; book club special offers among the perks

Roswell Reads, in partnership with Roswell Cultural Arts and Bookmiser, is doubling up on author events Jan. 10. The “One City, One Read” program will host Paula McLain, the New York Times bestselling author of “The Paris Wife” and eight other titles, for two literary offerings on the same day.
The author of six novels, two poetry collections and a memoir, McLain’s work has been published in more than 35 countries and featured in the New York Times, The Guardian, Town & Country and elsewhere. Her latest novel, “Skylark,” will be released just four days earlier.
To celebrate, Roswell Reads has lined up a pair of presentations on Jan. 10, both at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, 950 Forrest St., Roswell.

During a Writer to Writer event at 9:30 a.m., the Ohio-based author will explore her historical research process and the decision to structure “Skylark” using a dual timeline. Tickets are $15 and are available online here.
At 2 p.m., McLain will discuss “Skylark,” a mesmerizing tale of Paris above and below, where a woman's quest for artistic freedom in 1664 intertwines with a doctor's dangerous mission during the German occupation in the 1940s. A $35 ticket includes an autographed and/or personalized hardback copy of “Skylark,” priority seating and a photo with the author. General admission tickets are $15. Details are available here.

Additionally, Roswell Reads is rolling out the red carpet for anyone in – or interested in joining – a book club.
Prior to McLain’s 2 p.m. presentation, a book club table in the lobby of the Roswell Cultural Arts Center will have details for:
• Book clubs with five or more members attending. These groups will be eligible for special seating, prize drawings and – for groups that arrive by 1:30 p.m. – a professional book club photo with McLain. We are also offering the opportunity to have a Roswell Reads Steering Committee member join your book club meeting in 2026 to assist with a “Skylark” book discussion.
• Individuals interested in joining a book club. Local book club contact information will be available.
• All book club-related attendees. The book club table will have valuable handouts, including book ideas for 2026 reading lists, “Skylark” discussion questions and bookmarks.
