Alleged Drunk Driver Hits City Employee, Flees Accident: Cops
The driver, a Woodstock resident, is accused of mowing down a Roswell Department of Transportation worker.

ROSWELL, GA — The Roswell Police Department has charged a Cherokee County woman with driving under the influence when she struck a city employee and failed to stop following the accident.
Kayana Lynn Herring, 21, of Woodstock, is charged with DUI less safe, hit-and-run and serious injury by vehicle related to the incident reported on Friday, Dec. 7.
According to a Roswell police incident report, the city employee for the Roswell Department of Transportation was working on Canton Street near Elizabeth Way when he was hit by a white Oldsmobile Bravada.

The vehicle fled the scene, but was later tracked down by Milton police. Officers in that jurisdiction conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was driven by Herring. Roswell police responded to the crash and determined Herring was less safe to operate the vehicle.
According to WSB-TV, the employee, who was blowing leaves at the time of the incident, suffered a broken leg stemming from the crash. Another employee who witnessed the collision used a city street sweeper truck to follow the driver when she did not stop following the accident, the station added.

Herring was arrested and transported to the Alpharetta Detention Center. Jail records show she was booked into the facility Dec. 7 and remains held with a $42,000 bond.
