ArtAround Roswell Hosts STE(A)M Truck Event

The STE(A)M Truck will visit Don White Park September 10.

ROSWELL, GA – Community members are invited to the next ArtAround Roswell monthly event on September 10 featuring the STE(A)M Truck – an interactive mobile space that combines the worlds of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math in a hands-on, kid-friendly environment. The free event will take place from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at Don White Park, and families are encouraged to drop-in and participate at any time.

The STE(A)M Truck is an initiative of Community Guilds, a Georgia-based nonprofit committed to closing the opportunity gap in public education by providing high-interest, interactive, collaborative experiences that engage students in the educations foundations of STE(A)M (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) content and practices.

“It’s like an accidental education – we’re learning science, but are having so much fun in the process that we don’t even realize it,” said Katherine Jones, Cultural Services Manager for the City of Roswell. “It’s very similar to how we get to experience art in our parks. We’re learning about art and sculpture, but we get to do it in a fun, exciting atmosphere. The experience makes the material that much more fun and engaging. ”

The event will host the STE(A)M Truck, STE(A)M Box and STE(A)M Trailer, and will offer a variety of activities and demonstrations, including:

  • Art spinners and art bots – make your own art creation from deconstructed electronics
  • Seed bombs – make your own hand held garden with clay
  • Rocket-propelled paint project – take turns blasting paintballs from a rocket launcher and help make a community masterpiece
