Here are the top three stories in Roswell today:

  1. A bomb threat was made at The Goddard School on Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell on Thursday, October 3. The Roswell Police Department responded to the call and evacuated the entire preschool as an explosive ordnance detection canine team completed a safety sweep of the premises. Police shut down Holcomb Bridge Road in both directions near the school while the investigation was underway. Police gave the all-clear around 10:05 AM and students and staff were given permission to return to the facility. No additional information about the threat or who made it were given at this time. 2. The two people who were killed in the plane crash in Alpharetta earlier this week were a well-known local dentist, his wife and their beloved golden retriever. The couple was coming from Jekyll Island and the airplane was cleared to approach into the Dekalb-Peachtree Airport. The plane then descended, disappeared from radar and no distress calls were sent out. The wreckage has been removed from the site. The National Transportation Safety Board is to release a preliminary report on the incident within the next two to three weeks. It could take at least a year for the final report to be released. (WSB Atlanta)
  3. IrishFest Atlanta is this upcoming weekend and the festival will has tons to offer. This two-day extravaganza will celebrate Irish culture. This will be the 10th year celebration of IrishFest Atlanta. Teresa Finley is the director of the festival, she says, “We have a great diaspora across the US of Irish, and so much talent in music and dancing right here in the States, but I feel it’s really important for us to maintain a strong connection to Ireland.” There will be tons of Irish dancing, food, entertainment and music. The festival will even feature traditional Donegal music, an Irish Kayleigh and a whiskey tasting. This event is for the entire family and will be held in historic Downtown Roswell and November 4 and 5. (wabe.org)
