Children's Book-Writing Class at Barrington Hall

From the City of Roswell:

Roswell’s historic Barrington Hall will host “Writing Children’s Books” – a writing class for adults on six consecutive Thursday nights in October and November.

Led by award-winning children’s book author Mary Ann Rodman, adults will learn the process for creating a successful and compelling children’s book. Classes will be held from 7-10 p.m. on the following dates:

• October 17
• October 24
• October 31
• November 7
• November 14
• November 21

Rodman is both a writing instructor for children and adults and a successful children’s book author: First Grade Stinks (2006), Yankee Girl (2006), Jimmy Stars (2008), Surprise Soup (2009) and A Tree for Emmy (2009). 

For Yankee Girl, set in 1964 Mississippi, Rodman received a number of awards including the Georgia Book of Excellence Award, special recognition in Kentucky, Rhode Island, Kansas and Nebraska, the Mark Twain Award in Missouri, the Chicago Public Library's "Best of the Best" list and was named a Notable Book by the American Library Association.
