Here are the top five stories in Roswell today:

  1. A Roswell-based institution, 7 Mindsets, is considered a leader and innovator in mindset-based learning and well-being solutions for grades PreK-12. On Thursday, January 5 the organization announced the launch of a new app that will allow free access to the research-based principles that are to improve human potential. These principles are concepts from the book, The 7 Mindsets to Live Your Ultimate Life: An Introduction. Jeff Waller, the co-creator of 7 Mindsets says that their app will give a full introduction to the 7 Mindsets and is for people who would like to strengthen their personal well-being. This app is made for educators, support staff, administrators, students and families. (globenewswire.com)
  2. A truck driver reported to Roswell police that four tractor trailers were missing after being parked in the parking lot of the former Kohl’s department store on Holcomb Bridge Road. The incident was reported on December 29. The company will ping the GPS location of all trucks. (appenmedia.com)
  3. A Roswell daycare is appealing a decision by the State of Georgia to revoke its license and to close the childcare facility. The state's decision comes after an incident at the Parker-Chase preschool, involving two staff members in June of 2022. A parent made a report after she was watching a live camera in her child’s classroom as it was in "circle time." and it appeared a teacher, Zeina Alostwani, stepped on a child’s fingers. She then saw the teacher knee another girl in the back. A second teacher, Soriana Briceno, got into the girl’s face and proceeded to push her index finger into the girl’s forehead. These acts were witnessed in real time. The two staff members were later arrested and upon further investigation, more instances of possible abuse were found. The daycare's license was revoked by the state on Thursday, however, the school has 30 days to appeal the decision and can remain open in the meantime.
  4. The Roswell Fire Department is pleased about the results of its first annual holiday “Keep the Wreath Green” campaign. This initiative's aim was to reduce structure fires during the holiday season in the city. A green lightbulb was switched with a red bulb for every structure fire during the month. There were a few structure fires in December, and thus the wreath had sprinkles of red bulbs. By December 29, the wreath had a total of five red bulbs. These fires were related to cooking, faulty electrical equipment, improper use of heating equipment, and chimney fire. None of the fires reported were caused by holiday decorations. (appenmedia.com)
