Protecting Yourself from Home Repair Contractor Fraud & Scams

This free “how to” interactive forum is for all homeowners.  After a disaster or some other point in owning your home, you will have to deal with a contractor.  SmartPower information is critical and urgent to prevent being ripped off by unscrupulous home repair-home improvement vendors.

Learn how to deal with contractors or others you may engage to do work on your home, recognize typical and atypical scams such as green-washing (green fraud), manage insurance issues, payments to contractors, what to do if there is a problem and more. You also will learn how to: select and assess contractors, manage the building permit process, and lien releases. 

The free program will take place from 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, April 7 at the Roswell Library. Pre-registration, is not mandatory, but will help allow for planning seating and materials distribution.
