Here are the top five stories in Roswell today:

  1. On Wednesday July 13, Roswell Police were called to the Park 83 Apartment Complex, when a toddler was found walking alone. The young child was found walking by himself at 1:30 a.m. After police were called, they canvased the neighborhood. Initially, the child's parents could not be found. However, they were located and reunited with their son shortly after 9 a.m. (Channel 2-WSBTV.com)
  2. The City of Roswell approved a new budget that will change the fire department's current entirely part-time staff and allow for full-time employees. Twenty-one new fire captains will be added this fall, followed by the faze-in hiring of 138 positions over the next five years. The part-time staffed fire departments were finding an ever-growing challenge to service the city's growing population. This became more evident during the pandemic. Allowing for full-time firefighters will also help with response times and to endure public safety. (www.wsbradio.com)
  3. Sony Pictures has reached out to the Adult Services Department at The Friends of the Roswell Library to help promote the new movie "Where the Crawdads Sing.” The movie comes to theaters on July 15, and the library urges Roswell residents to read the book and have discussions before or after the movie. They also have bookmarks to distribute at their libraries and copies of the book were added to their inventory. (facebook.com)
  4. A woman was found dead at the Comfort Inn on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta over the weekend. The body was found around noon on July 10. The Alpharetta Police Department has commented that at this time, she doesn't seem to be a victim of foul play. This is currently an active investigation, and no further information has been given at this time. (appenmedia.com)
