Here are the top four stories today in Roswell:
- On August 31, the Roswell Fire Department gave recognition to Fire Captains Sean Doran and Jeff Johansen. They were honored for over 50 years of their combined service to the department and the city. Capt. Doran started with the Roswell FD in 1994 as a firefighter and was promoted to a lieutenant before becoming a captain. Capt. Johansen began his career in 1995 and also followed the same chain of promotions to become captain. They both have received numerous awards and honors during their extensive careers. Upon their retirements, they both were were assigned to the department's Support Services Division. (facebook.com)
- North Fulton Charities in Roswell is about to begin its annual Warm Coats program. It is asking the community to donate jackets, coats, hats, scarves and other winter accessories to help those in need this winter. It is are also seeking volunteers to help operate the program, as well as those who would like to sponsor this endeavor. It is accepting financial donations as well. The Warm Coats drive will run from October 3 through October 8. (twitter.com)
- On the morning of Sept. 1, the Alpharetta FD responded to a fire in the parking lot of a apartment complex in the city. Fire crews were called to the Manchester at Mansell Apartments which is on the Alpharetta boarder. Crews arrived to find a car engulfed in flames. After extinguishing the fire, crews made sure that no buildings, people or other cars were injured or damaged. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office. - Roswell High School is mourning the death of a beloved faculty member. Alex Chrzanowski was a social studies teacher. He passed away unexpectedly. This week the school will be offering an in-person CARE team of counselors, social workers and school psychologists for students if they need support. School officials are asking parents to talk to their children as well. Principal Miley asked for the community to keep Chrzanowski 's family and the Roswell High School family in their thoughts.

- Roswell Historical Society: The Roswell Historical Society presents "Beyond My Stone" where performers tell the story of "their" life and times in Roswell. This performance will be held at Pleasant Hill Historical Cemetery on Saturday, October 22 at 5 p.m. (Roswell Historical Society via Facebook)
- City of Roswell: A multi-city town hall to discuss LOST in North Fulton will be on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Mayors from six North Fulton communities will discuss their concerns about changes to Fulton County’s Local Option Sales Tax. The discussion will be at Roswell City Hall. - River Eves ES: Meg Seever was awarded August Teacher of the Month and Veronica Villar was recognized as August Professional of the Month. (River Eves Elementary via Twitter)
- Fulton County Board of Health: The Board of Health will focus monkeypox aid in minority communities. Dr. Lynn Paxton stated that "communities of color have been hit particularly hard by monkeypox." The Board of Health is holding weekly monkeypox vaccination clinics and has expanded its clinic hours to include evenings and some weekends. The department sais that this will help to ensure equitable access to resources. (MDJOnline.com)
