Five Things You Need to Know: This Weekend

Every week Roswell Patch will try to bring you a list of five events or activities you and your family might enjoy over the weekend.

-If you're in the mood to see some holiday decor, you're in luck! The city of Roswell is currently holding its Holiday Decorating Contest. Check out our for a list of residents, businesses and subdivisions which have gone all out to compete for the honor of being the city's best - that and a prize sponsored by Georgia Power.

-Bike Roswell!'s free Jingle Bell Ride for families is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 18, at Riverside Park beginning at 3 p.m. The one-mile ride will follow the park's multi-use path. Families are invited to deck out their bicycles in lights, bells and any other holiday décor they can find as a part of "Santa's Cycling Sleigh Ride." Bike Roswell! will be serving hot chocolate and cookies after the ride. Rain will cancel the ride. For more information e-mail Bike Roswell!.

-If you're looking for some good food and live music this weekend, Roux on Canton - an oyster bar with Cajun influences - has you covered. The local restaurant features live music from 7:30 p.m. until their 10 p.m. closing time every Friday and Saturday evening. Plus, you'll love the free entertainment of watching Jackson, MS native, Carl Sojourner, shuck fresh oysters!

-Combine local history with a visit to the man from the North Pole at on Saturday, Dec. 18. Take a tour of the historic home and then have your picture taken with Mr. and Mrs. Claus between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Children are free, but adults cost $6.
