- Clarissa Clifton is a food historian who shares her knowledge and talents with visitors to the Smith Plantation. Twice a month, Clifton volunteers at the historic site to demonstrate historical Southern poverty food. In the practice of open-hearth cooking, she prepares traditional South Georgian cuisine from the descendants of slaves and those who were poor in the south. Clifton is not only interested in culinary history, she is also passionate about American history- in particular, the Revolutionary War. She shares her deep love for history and food with the attendants of her classes at the Smith Plantation. (appenmedia.com)
- The historic antebellum-style mansion, Founders Hall, in downtown Roswell will be turned into a club that will also hold restaurants and a boutique hotel. Work for this luxurious transformation of a mansion into the Ten Seventy Six Club and The Darien Hotel began last month. The site is planned to be built at 1076 Canton St. Scott Rosenblum of Hugo Posh Investments and Todd Rushing of Concentrics Restaurants are two of four partners who are investing almost $35 million into this redevelopment project. - Sarah Beeson, the new Roswell Post 1 City Council member, will be Roswell's first Iranian- American councilmember. She is also the only member with young children. After months of campaigning, Beeson said the election results were a "relief." Some of the challenges that Beeson says she will face are the quick-start that the position requires and the length of the term. She also says that she wants to "build bridges beyond the seats of City Council." (appenmedia.com)

- Roswell Fire Department: The polar vortex is upon us and these frigid temperatures are expected to last throughout the holiday weekend. The Roswell Fire Department gave tips to help residents recognize the signs of hypothermia. The department shares signs of hypothermia, which are different in adults and infants. It's an extreme emergency if an individual's temperature falls below 95° F. (Roswell Fire Department via Facebook)
- Roswell Arts Fund: In 2017, the Arts Fund purchased a mixed-media sculpture called "Sweet Pops of Brilliance" by Craig Snyder. This sculpture, which is a combination of Western and Eastern cultures, also infuses earth-based and made-made materials. You can use the Arts Center's virtual map that notes the sites that showcase the arts in Roswell. (Roswell Arts Fund via Instagram)
- City of Roswell, Georgia Government: the city's transportation department is ready for anything this weekend's weather may bring. They have their Snow Dogg, salt spreader, and their crews are ready for any emergency calls they may receive. (City of Roswell, Georgia Government via Facebook)
