Who should you turn to in a rapidly changing real estate market?

If you needed a complex medical procedure, would you choose a doctor fresh out of med school — or one with years of experience who’d done the procedure successfully hundreds of times?

The answer of course is obvious: experience matters. The same is true for the largest financial transaction of your life: the buying and selling of a home — even more so in today’s complex and fast-changing real estate market.

Here are the top three stories today in Roswell:

  1. Employees at the Pizza Hut on Holcomb Bridge Road called the Roswell Police Department to report fraud. On February 1, the pizza shop reported that a customer paid one of their delivery drivers with prop money. Responding officers confirmed that the $80 in cash that was received was “motion picture prop money.” The delivery driver told the officers that he was given an address in an apartment complex, but no apartment number. The phone number given had no information to identify the caller. Police suspect that the telephone used was a burner phone. The case is active and under investigation. (appenmedia.com)
  2. Cook & James, a real estate law firm, has its home base in Roswell. On February 17, the firm will be celebrating 17 years in business. Since its beginning in 2006, the firm has grown tremendously and now closes transactions in New York, Connecticut and South Carolina as well. Kara Cook, attorney and co-founding partner at Cook & James, says that “today, despite some definite head winds, we have maintained our signature integrity, steered by our canons and our caring, competent attitudes and abilities.” In 2023 they plan to offer new agent breakfasts, candle-making classes and other networking events at their Roswell office. 3. Fulton County has decided to offer the same prices to the cities for municipal election management as it did in 2021. This revised decision comes after some cities in North Fulton have decided to run their own polls. On February 1, the County Commission voted to budget $5.2 million plus an extra 10 percent for contingencies for elections. This new formula was decided by the County Commission in a split vote. Cities in North Fulton have until March 31 to sign with the county or to perform their own elections. (appenmedia.com)
