Fulton Inmate Dies After Being Tased At Jail: GBI
The GBI said the inmate, a Macon resident, became combative with jail staff before he was tased and pepper sprayed.

ATLANTA, GA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death of an inmate at the Fulton County Jail following a use-of-force incident. The Fulton County Sheriff's Office called in the GBI to investigate the incident, which was reported Tuesday, Sept. 11.
According to the GBI, Antonio May of Macon, 32, became "combative and failed to comply with jail staff." A confrontation between May and the authorities ensued, and the subject was struck with a Taser and hit with pepper spray.
Fulton jail staffers were able to gain control of May, had to be decontaminated due to the use of the spray. However, he became unresponsive, and medical and jail staff began performing CPR on May. Grady EMS and the Atlanta Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the scene and attempted life saving measures, but May was pronounced dead.

The GBI notes May had been arrested Sept. 11 on a criminal trespass charge and a warrant issued by another county. The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy. Once the GBI's investigation is complete, it will turn over its case file to the Fulton County District Attorney's Office for review.
