Here are the top three stories in Roswell today:

  1. The Georgia Sun newspaper visited the City of Roswell for its monthly Flashback Feature for October. The history and founding of Atlanta Street Baptist in Roswell was explored and shared. The church was founded in 1872, during the midst of reconstruction, and was created by members of Willeo Baptist Church and Lebanon Baptist Church. Their goal was to create a Baptist church that lied within Roswell's actual city limits during that time. The church was initially named Roswell Baptist Church, then later become Roswell First Baptist Church and Roswell Second Baptist Church. Atlanta Street Baptist first met in a log schoolhouse that was near the town square. (georgiasun.com)
  2. The Development Authority of Roswell made an agreement with the Sizemore Group to create master planning for the intersection of GA-400 and Holcomb Bridge Road. An intergovernmental agreement was made with the DAR to provide up to $150,000 for the planning process. Roswell wants the area to be used for mixed-use development that has office, commercial, and residential spaces. The aim is to attract high-quality development. The Sizemore Group will build on the existing infrastructure in the corridor. The planning process is expected to occur over the next six months, and they will receive input from city leaders and stakeholders in the community. (Paywall: ajc.com)
  3. The Roswell Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs department has many activities planned this month to celebrate the Halloween season. The Great Pumpkin is back at Roswell City Hall and the community is welcome to come take photos during the entire month of October. On October 19, the city will host an Adaptive Halloween Dance at the Adult Recreation Center on Grimes Bridge Road. This event is for adults in the community who are 18 and older. There will also be a "spooky" Halloween Fun House at East Roswell Park on October 21. The fun house is open and free to the public. There is a complete list of events going on this fall on the city's website. (facebook.com)
