- The Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs (NBT) and the Foundation of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International announced the recipients of their scholarships for the upcoming 2023 spring college semester. This scholarship is given to students who wish to have a career in the metal fabrication industry. From donations and grants given within the metal fabrication industry, NBT is able to award these students with $45,000 for tuition, books and other school fee costs. Since 1990, NBT has awarded more than $1.3 million to over 675 recipients. One of the 30 2023 Spring Semester Award recipients is Jared Gonding of Roswell, Georgia. Jared will be using his scholarship to attend the Georgia Trade School for welding. (prnewswire.com)
- The city's purchase of a property on Mimosa Boulevard named Holly Hill was approved in a unanimous vote by the Roswell City Council. The historic property will be purchased for $1.5 million. Before the vote there was, however, a debate over whether the topic of the purchase should be deferred to a later date. With a looming December 31 deadline to purchase the property, some members of the council argued that this contract is a “time is of the essence” deal. The mayor assured residents that this deal is financially beneficial for the city and that the historical asset plans will be available for review in 2023. (appenmedia.com)
- The city has a new Transportation Director. Jeffrey S. Littlefield comes to Roswell from Albemarle, North Carolina with 18 years of Professional Engineer and a Certified Public Management experience. Since 2018, Littlefield served as the Deputy Division Engineer for the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). He also brings with him extensive knowledge in construction management, roadway design, right-of-way management and transportation improvement projects. Littlefield is looking forward to live and serve the city of Roswell and states, "I am excited to execute the city transportation master plan and see the vision for this department unfold." He has already officially been hired and has began his service, dedication and commitment to the transportation department. (roswellgov.com)
