Here are the top three stories today in Roswell:

  1. The Roswell Housing Authority is looking for ways to fund the redevelopment of Grove Way Apartments. The property at 199 Grove Way was declared structurally unsound by the City of Roswell in March of 2022. The tenants were given until the end of August last year to vacate. One resident, however, remains but will be relocated soon. The Grove Way Apartments were developed for individuals who earn less than 80% of the area median income, seniors and people with disabilities. The property currently consist of 40 units that will be made structurally sound and remodeled. The redevelopment is also projected to add 61 units to the site. The project will cost almost $30 million. (appenmedia.com)
  2. Coach Adam Miller resigned as the head football coach for Westover High School in Albany, Georgia. He has taken the position as the new head football coach at Centennial High School. Miller made the announcement to his team on Tuesday, February 14 after spending three seasons with the team. Coach Miller led his team to the state playoffs this past season as well. Westover High School wishes Coach Miller well wishes with his new position with the Centennial Knights. (albanyherald.com)
  3. We're facing a nursing shortage in the state of Georgia as well as across the nation. The shortage is expected to get even worse. Even though there is a deficit, there are some nurses who are licensed, want to work, but can't. Pam Sennet, a licensed nurse in Roswell, moved to Georgia in the fall of 2021. She shares her story of the difficulty to find nursing work in Georgia for those licensed out-of-state or are foreign-educated and licensed. There is a backlog in vetting and licensing approval at the Board of Nursing. These delays are attributed staffing shortages and an increase in the amount of applications the board receives.
