Here are the top stories in Roswell today:

  1. Crews from the Roswell FD's Engine and Truck 24 responded to a call advising of an odd sound coming from a storm drain. Upon arrival to an area near Belcourt Parkway, responders discovered that there were four kittens trapped inside the storm drain. All of the kittens were rescued safely. (facebook.com)
  2. The Roswell Farmers and Artisans Market continues to promote small and local businesses throughout the community. This is a producers-only market where local farm, ranch and artisan foods come directly from the producer. The city's goal is to encourage entrepreneurship with nutritional values and focus. The market's manager, Sherri Schreiner, expressed how “It helps small business, and it helps the local food industry…I think it’s great for the economy,” Schreiner said. The market will open very Saturday morning through October. (appenmedia.com)
  3. The City of Roswell announced that the Alive in Roswell event that's occurring on Thursday August 18, will bring road closures to the area. Several areas around Canton Street will begin to be shut down at various times starting at 2 p.m. These closures will affect traffic in the downtown area. Public safety leaders will reopen the roads once they know the streets are safe for normal operation. (facebook.com)
  4. Sandy Springs PD confirmed that Mariah Carey’s Sandy Springs mansion was targeted by burglars in late July. This current break-in is the latest in a growing number of home robberies since last October. Gangs are believed to be responsible for these burglaries. Investigations over several months have led to four recent arrests, and more arrests are anticipated. Police are educating the public how thieves are using social media posts to gain leads for homes to target. The department reminds residents to “Be mindful that there are other people, besides good guys that are watching your social media. Guard your social media accounts, don’t leave it wide open for the world to see.” (Reporter Newspapers)
