- A $12 million comprehensive cancer center recently opened at Wellstar North Fulton Hospital. The 12,000 square foot space will provide imaging services, an outpatient infusion center, a STAT clinic and CyberKnife radiation therapy. Jon-Paul Croom, the president of Wellstar North Fulton, says that this facility is unique in the county. Only Wellstar Kennestone Hospital will be able to match this level of care. A major part of the evolution and growth to their oncology department is credited to and was led by radiation oncologist, Dr. Mark McLaughlin. McLaughlin came to the department almost five years ago, and soon saw a need in the care process for patients. He aimed to create a “one-stop shop” for cancer patients to receive treatment and care. Mayor Wilson, city officials, and Milton Mayor Peyton Jamison were present for the center's ribbon cutting on March 23. (appenmedia.com)
- The Blessed Trinity girls lacrosse team is said to be having another "championship-bound" season for the third year in a row. They went into Thursday's game against Creekview with a 12-2 record. The Titans are currently ranked No. 2 in Class 5A-6A division. Yesterday was the first time that Blessed Trinity girls lacrosse team played against Creekview, who holds the top spot in their division. Referencing Creekview High School, the team's assistant, Haley Harris says, “It should be one of the best matchups this season for us, and hopefully it’s a foreshadowing (of a semifinals meeting) for both of us.” The Titans are also USA Lacrosse Magazine's No. 8 spot in its South Top 10 poll. Milton High School is the only other school in Georgia who made this list. The Titans Girls Lacrosse team is on the road to the playoffs, to which they say its "game on." (newsbreak.com)
- On March 22, Roswell police received a call from a man who had been stabbed by an unidentified woman. The man had multiple stab wounds on his left arm, elbow, wrist and thumb. The report states that the man, who is a day laborer, was in a parking lot on Alpharetta Hwy. that day looking for work. A driver of silver Dodge truck arrived looking for workers. The man attempted to get into the truck, but it was too full with other people. The man said when he got out of the vehicle a woman charged at his throat with a knife and was cursing at him. He then stated he turned his body to evade the attack, which caused is arm to be stabbed in various places. He then ran away to call police; the attacker fled the scene in the truck. The man was evaluated at the hospital. The Roswell Police Department is currently investigating this incident. (appenmedia.com)
