Jones told police he used to live at Thomas' home and served as his caretaker to help him with his medical issues. He said he came back on weekends to check on the home, according to the report.
Thomas' mother, Katina Smith, was notified people were in the house when she saw posts from his friends' social media accounts of them having a party.
Peter Wright, the executor of Thomas' estate and his longtime financial adviser, told police he changed the locks to the house shortly after Thomas' funeral service in December and that no one was living there at the time. Wright said ownership of the house would be transferred to Smith and Thomas' father once the death certificate was received.
Thomas was a third-team All-American at Georgia Tech and was selected 22nd overall by the Broncos in the 2010 NFL Draft. In nine NFL seasons, including seven-plus with Denver followed by short stints with the Houston Texans and New York Jets, Thomas recorded 724 receptions for 9,763 yards and 63 touchdowns. He was a two-time second team All-Pro and was named to the Pro Bowl four times.
