Here are the top stories today in Roswell:
- The Roswell Fire Department and Police Department's Public Safety Peer Support Team met with a nationwide group of various Mental Health Clinicians and Peer Counselors last week. They worked together to come up with ideas about and address the numerous resources that are accessible to public safety officials. Public Safety personnel and First Responders experience and resolve many different critical, fatal and traumatic events. Peer Support's aim is to try to lessen the psychological effects that these situations can cause and exacerbate. The group works to ease and normalize reactions that Public Safety professionals experience by sharing the experiences of other members. (facebook.com)
- The University of Oregon's lacrosse team announced the players joining the team for the upcoming 2023-2024 season. The announcement was made by the Duck's head coach, Chelsea Hoffmann. Eight new members will join the team, and one of those special players comes from Roswell, GA. Carly Coopman plays the position of defender and is currently attending Blessed Trinity Catholic HS. Coopman is acknowledged for leading Blessed Trinity HS to back-to-back Georgia 5A state championships in 2021 and 2022. She was also on the Eagle Stix Blue club team that won multiple times at the Southern Lacrosse Showdown in 2021 and the SAT 2022 tournament in Georgia. (goducks.com)
- Roswell Police are still looking for a missing 64-year old man who was last seen on Friday, November 11. Hussein Esmail is described as an Indian male who is 5-foot-5 and 162 pounds, with thin/balding black hair, brown eyes and wears glasses. Roswell Police encountered Esmail two times on the evening of November 11 near Riverside Road and Old Alabama Road. He was evaluated by EMTs, and found to be aware of his surrounding and destination at the time. He was released on his own recognizance. The individual was last seen wearing a blue Adidas jacket with the word “France” on the back, black pants and gray and white sneakers. The Police Department stated that the missing man is an at-risk adult who has been diagnosed as bipolar with cognitive decline. The Roswell PD was contacted by his family on Sunday, November 13 to report him missing. They also updated police with additional information regarding his medical and mental health. Residents are asked to call 911 immediately and report your location if this individual is seen. (thegeorgiasun.com)

- Hembree Springs Elementary: A grant provided by United Healthcare and the Little Medical School team we were able to give the students of Hembree Springs ES a unique experience. - The City of Roswell, Government: In the month of November, the City of Roswell is spotlighting its employees to show their thanks and gratitude for their service tot he city. - Roswell Special Events: At this time all of the trees for the Deck the Square campaign have been sold out. There is a waiting list, and you will be contacted if spots become available. - Roswell Rotary Club: Roswell Rotary After Hours will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday, November 15. The virtual course, "Talk Saves Lives: An Introduction to Suicide Prevention" will discuss awareness and prevention. The course is sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
