Who should you turn to in a rapidly changing real estate market?

If you needed a complex medical procedure, would you choose a doctor fresh out of med school — or one with years of experience who’d done the procedure successfully hundreds of times?

The answer of course is obvious: experience matters. The same is true for the largest financial transaction of your life: the buying and selling of a home — even more so in today’s complex and fast-changing real estate market.

Here are the top stories today in Roswell:

  1. Roswell Restaurant Weeks begins today. This celebration on fine cuisine initially began as a week-only event, but has subsequently evolved into a multi-week extravaganza. Roswell promotes the deep and unique culinary experiences throughout the city. Over 45 restaurants in Roswell will feature prix fixe menus between January 19 through February 5. There is a complete list of participating restaurants and menus on the Roswell Restaurant Weeks website. (thegeorgiasun.com)
  2. Detectives are investigating after a man came into the Home Depot store on Holcomb Bridge Road claiming he had been shot. The man from Cumming seemed to have a wound on his lower jaw. He refused to remove a cloth mask he was wearing which had holes that matched the wounds to his jaw. He refused to disclose to the responding officers who had shot him. Roswell PD determined the man was most likely shot somewhere in Martin’s Landing. His mask and phone was taken for evidence and he was transported to the hospital for treatment. Detectives have yet to find a suspect, but are actively investigating this incident. (appenmedia.com)
  3. The City of Roswell has plans to expand and strengthen the city's fire department. For the first time in history, the Roswell Fire Department recently transitioned from a part-time staff to a full-time staff. The city started the conversion by hiring 21 full-time fire captains. The next task on the agenda will be to employ more than 100 full-time firefighters within the next four years. The goal is to make the department more efficient with certain and consistent staffing, well-working fire teams and improved safety procedures while on emergency calls. (facebook.com)

  • Roswell Inc: Roswell Inc.'s Coffee Connect was a huge success and the attendees had a grand time. Their next Coffee Connect will be next month at Pop's Coffee Co. in Roswell. Tickets and annuals passes for future "connects" are available for purchase. (Roswell Inc via Facebook)
  • Roswell, Georgia Fire Department: There was a structure fire in the city on Thursday, January 18. The fire department responded to a fire on Gran Crique Dr. The nearby area was blocked off while crews quenched the flames. No injuries or fatalities were reported. (Roswell GA Fire via Instagram)
  • The Roswell Historical Society: The Historical Society has graced us with some more of Roswell's intricate history. Lebanon Baptist Church has been an important part of Roswell's history and culture since 1836. The original church home was located on Houze Rd. Land at the corner of Holcomb Bridge Rd. and Alpharetta Hwy. was later given by Robert Thompson, and the church moved its building to that location; that building burned down in 2004. The congregation, however, had previously moved to their current site on Crabapple Rd. in 1996. (The Roswell Historical Society via Instagram)
