Mayor Appoints East Roswell Economic Action Committee Members

The committee will be tasked with coming up with recommendations to spur revitalization on the east side of the city.

ROSWELL, GA — Mayor Lori Henry has announced the names of the residents and stakeholders who will serve on the East Roswell Economic Action Committee.

Committee members who were appointed at a called Dec. 13 meeting are Bruce Kellogg, Andy McGarry, Robert Mimms, Amanda Riepe, Stephen Shanahan, Kerstin Sommer-Raza and Tim Stevens. Area stakeholders who will also serve on the committee include Trent Perry, Downtown Development Authority; Ron Buckley, Brixmore Group; Steve Stroud, Roswell Inc; Community Development Director Alice Wakefield; and City Administrator Gary Palmer.

Members of the Economic Action Committee, which is tasked with proposing recommendations that could spur rebirth along the east end of Roswell, will serve as ambassadors who will pass along information to the community at large, according to the city. Each meeting the committee holds will include an educational aspect, as various attendees will be asked to speak at these gatherings, Mayor Henry also said. She also said elected officials will also be available to provide city resources, but the committee will not be run by Roswell.

City Administrator Palmer said he will schedule the first meeting to occur in January and will work on a subsequent schedule for the committee. The inaugural meeting will go over the committee's mission, draft its bylaws and charter, finalize the schedule and meeting location, discuss how they will distribute information and create a draft work program.

Committee members will also explore the election officers that will occur at the following meeting. Palmer said he'll chair the first meeting, and turn over the leadership of subsequent meetings to the chairman.
