If you needed a complex medical procedure, would you choose a doctor fresh out of med school — or one with years of experience who’d done the procedure successfully hundreds of times?

The answer of course is obvious: experience matters. The same is true for the largest financial transaction of your life: the buying and selling of a home — even more so in today’s complex and fast-changing real estate market.

Here are the top stories in Roswell today:

1. The Roswell City Council ordered a 90-day moratorium on zoning and local business applications for dispensaries selling low THC oil or products. They are planning to put a limit on areas where medical marijuana dispensaries can operate inside of the city. This temporary pause will give the city time to decide where dispensaries can be located and to change Roswell’s Unified Development Code. Oil with low THC will continue to be available at pharmacies during the moratorium. Roswell is not allowed to ban dispensaries, but can decide on the location of these businesses via zoning restrictions. (Paywall: ajc.com)

2. False active shooter calls are on a rise in schools across the state. A hoax call has even occurred in North Fulton. Cambridge High School in Milton received a false active shooter call on Thursday, November 30. Milton Police received a call from an unknown caller who claimed to be a teacher at the school. The caller stated that shots were being fired inside of the school. School officials confirmed with officers that there was no such events taking place on their campus. The school was still placed on lockdown, however. The department still conducted a sweep of the school as a precaution. At least six schools across Georgia have received hoax phone calls. Gov. Brian Kemp released a statement, calling the calls a "cruel hoax." (mdjonline.com)

3. The Roswell Alpharetta Mountain Bike Association (Rambo) will be holding several end-of-the-year events. On December 3, they will hold their Bikes 4 Kids Domestique Day. In partnership with BikeAlpharetta, the groups will be repairing and cleaning children's bicycles. The following day will be the Big Creek Pumptrack refresh from 12pm-5pm which is open to the entire family. The third Big Creek Night Ride will begin at 7:00 PM on December 7. Finally on December 14, RAMBO will host their Freeride Edition Night Ride. This end-of-the-year party will feature 1000ft of lights on the jumps and free pizza. These RAMBO events are open to the entire community. (Roswell Alpharetta Mountain Bike Association via Facebook)
