Roswell Fire Damages Apartments, Displaces Multiple Families
A blaze burned through multiple units at a Roswell apartment complex, also causing smoke and water damage.

ROSWELL, GA — An apartment blaze in the 1900 block of Rosemont Parkway left multiple families displaced, the Roswell Fire Department said Wednesday.
Crews responded to the fire around 7 p.m. Tuesday, when firefighters found heavy smoke coming from an apartment unit, fire officials said. At the time, flames were burning through the walls, fire officials said.
The fire was eventually extinguished; however, fire officials say five units were damaged by fire, smoke and water. The need to turn off utilities impacted 10 total units, fire officials said.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced families, fire officials said.
Crews from Alpharetta and Milton, as well as Roswell Police, assisted at the scene.

The cause and origin of the blaze were unknown. Potential injuries were unknown.
Fire officials say the incident proves the importance of working smoke alarms.
"Properly installed and maintained alarms can provide early warning, giving residents valuable time to escape and reducing the risk of injury," fire officials said in a news release.
