  1. Fabien Perry, the murder suspect the Roswell police have been hunting for, has been killed during a standoff with Colorado law enforcement. Perry was the main suspect in the murder of Johana Cabrales-Hernandez who was found slain in her home on July 6 in Roswell. On Monday July 18, police officers in Aurora, Colorado were in an active standoff with Perry for more than nine hours. He was subsequently killed after refusing to surrender to police and being armed. (cbs46.com)
  2. A former graduate of Centennial High School, Jonathan Cannon, has been selected by the Chicago White Socks in the MLB 2022 Draft. Cannon is currently a junior at UGA. Centennial High School and the Roswell community are celebrating their former Knight on this tremendous achievement. (twitter.com)
  3. Jackson Fine Art Gallery has announced a new exhibit featuring the works of photographer Julie Blackmon. Blackmon’s exhibition Metaverse This exhibit explores an imaginative dystopian world run by children. Her works draw inspiration from 17th-century Dutch and Flemish painters. This whimsical world can be viewed now through July 23. (wabe.org)
  4. History was made at the 2022 U.S. Rowing Youth National Championships that took place in June. The St. Andrew Rowing Club in Roswell finished in the top 12 in the nationwide competition. The team won six gold and one bronze medal in addition winning the Team Points Trophy and the Efficiency Trophy. (fox5atlanta.com)
  5. The Kohl's in East Roswell has been vacant for over six years now. That is about to change. Eagles Nest Church is under contract to purchase the building. The closing of the property is set for this fall. Eagles Nest Church will announce its plans for the site once the closing is finalized. (appenmedia.com)

  • Roswell Police Department: Major Noah Caplan with the Roswell Police Department recently returned from Israel after two weeks of public safety leadership training. Some of the Isreal's top police executives were in attendance. He was apart of a 16-member delegation from the state of Georgia. “I’m grateful to have participated in this leadership delegation to Israel”, said Major Caplan.   • Republican U.S. Rep. Jody Hice has become the latest to fight the subpoena issued to have him testify before the special grand jury in the 2020 election interference probe. He filed a motion to rescind the subpoena in federal court in Atlanta. His filing argues that high-ranking officials should not be called as witnesses unless the information that they could provide cannot be obtained from another source. (thewashingtonpost.com)
  • The Alpharetta firefighters responded to a house fire on July 18. The fire was caused by a power strip that was placed on top of a blanket that was on the couch. The home was equipped with a sprinkler system, which put out the fire before the fire department arrived. (thegeorgiasun.com)
