Here are the top three stories in Roswell today:
- The second floor the of the Roswell Cultural Arts Center has been renovated and revamped into Roswell's new History Museum. $150,000 was donated from Roswell's budget for this renovation. The Historical Society raised an additional $70,000 for this endeavor. Special artifacts in the collection include a Cherokee Indian territory map from 1831, documents regarding the city's early settlers, and pieces from the era of slavery. The museum has permanent exhibits as well as rotating exhibits, which are temporary, that will be displayed twice a year. (newsbreak.com)
- New safety features have been implemented at Roswell High School during the current 2022-2023 school year. The school has installed alarms on the doors that lead outside, and the utilization of student IDs for simple identification.   The new alarms will allow the faculty to know if a person leaves the school. Alarms will sound and the student leaving will receive in-school suspension. Roswell High School officials said these changes are to ensure the protection of the students and the staff. - A complaint has been filed in United States District Court on January 10 against the Ramada Worldwide location in Alpharetta. A purported victim of sex trafficking alleged that the hotel allowed her to be trafficked there as a minor. The victim stated that the man who forced her into trafficking would purchase rooms one night at a time via cash. It is also said that the hotel staff and management knew of online reviews that were made by people who said they were "solicited for or mentioning evidence of prostitution during their stay." The accuser is entitled to make a claim against the hotel per the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act. The hotel and its parent company, Wyndham Hotels & Resort, has yet to comment on these allegations. (appenmedia.com)
