Here are the top three stories in Roswell today:
- Roswell City Council meetings are normally held at City Hall, but on November 14, the city is switching things up. The Mayor and City Council will meet at East Roswell Park Recreation Center at 9000 Fouts Rd. This special meeting will offer a unique opportunity for residents to get a idea of the decisions officials vote on monthly. A typical agenda of a council meeting includes an invocation/moment of silence, pledge of allegiance, the mayor’s report and any special city proclamations. Council members will then vote on a consent agenda and conduct public hearings on a variety of issues. The meeting will end with the city attorney’s report if needed. The council posts the meeting agenda online at least two days in advance of meetings. The November 14 meeting will also be livestreamed on Roswell's Facebook and YouTube pages. (Paywall: ajc.com)
- The long-existing Roswell restaurant and karaoke bar, Chaplins, has new owners. The establishment has been a staple in Roswell for 35 years. Jobe Gruber, Michael Kramer and Will Giddens bought the bar after word of the previous owners retiring. Jobe Gruber founded the food truck The Fry Guy and was also a founding partner of The Fur Bus. Michael Kramer and Will Giddens were the former operators of Kramer’s Buckhead restaurant and the Southern Social in Statesboro, Ga. This team is the second set of owners in the restaurant's history. Chaplins has operated the longest-running karaoke bar in the state. (whatnowatlanta.com)
- The Roswell Men's Gymnastics Team has been accepted to the GA Elite Competitive Team. These select students were chosen Sunday, November 6 at the Georgia Elite Team Camp. They will be a part of a competitive compulsory team that will represent the state at competitions. Colton Jones, Devin Masters, Shai Flaks and Felipe Ferrell from the Roswell Men's Gymnastic Team have achieved this exceptional accomplishment. Devin, Shai and Colton are coached by Coach Leandro Heredia and Felipe is coached by Coach Ryan Smith. (facebook.com)
