New Principal Named to Hillside Elementary School

A new principal has been named for . Maisha Otway will assume her new role this summer.

An assistant principal at Heards Ferry Elementary School, Maisha Otway is moving to Hillside Elementary School to fill its principal role.

Throughout her career, Otway has focused on increasing the achievement of all children, with a special focus on students who are learning English as a second language. She began as an elementary teacher in Massachusetts, and later held positions with Atlanta Public Schools and with private schools and educational programs in Atlanta, Sandy Springs and Maryland. She returned to Fulton County as an ESOL teacher at Dunwoody Springs Elementary School, and later became a curriculum support specialist at New Prospect Elementary School before coming to Heards Ferry Elementary School, where she had also taught previously.

Otway attended Our Lady of the Elms College in Massachusetts, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in teaching English as a second language. She also holds a doctorate in education from Walden University.
