Here are the top stories in Roswell today:
- The 75th anniversary celebration for Roswell's American Legion Post 201 has been rescheduled. The post was founded in 1947. The anniversary extravaganza is now set for January 21 at the Carl Black Buick GMC dealership in Roswell. The anniversary cake-cutting is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM, and will be followed by a community cookout. (appenmedia.com)
- NFL wide receiver A.J. Green's Roswell home was recently broken into. Roswell police reported that something had activated a security alarm on the property in the evening on Friday, January 13. At this time is unclear what items were taken from the home. No one was said to be home at the time of the break-in. The Roswell Police Department is reviewing the property's security cameras and are actively investigating the incident. (fox5atlanta.com)
- It's being said that newly elected councilmember Sarah Beeson is already shaking things up and creating a standard for her tenure on the council. Her unsimilar opinions have given a challenge to other councilmembers attempts to stiffen restrictions on the residential and commercial development in the city. She is offering alternate perspectives on how Roswell can reshape and/or adjust the requirements for "open space percentages in landscaping, townhome density limits and permitted uses in districts designated Industrial Light." The January 10 Mayor and City Council meeting was Councilmember Beeson’s introduction to the council's rostrum. (appenmedia.com)
