Here are the top stories today in Roswell:

  1. Vick Koffee & Kocktails opened in Downtown Roswell in August 2021, and now has become a staple in the downtown area. The chef and owner, Kadijah Vickers, has gained dedicated patrons and was featured in this year’s Summer Sippin’ Roswell competition. The restaurant serves coffee, cocktails and various entrees. Vickers is now offering breakfast and lunch on Tuesday through Sunday, as well as brunch on the weekend. In the evenings from Wednesday through Sunday, one can experience the "jazz and blues vibe" that is created by the live entertainment and cocktails. The Vick is located at the corner of Canton Street and Woodstock Road. in Roswell. (fox5atlanta.com)
  2. There were no survivors in the plane crash on Big Creek Greenway in Alpharetta on Monday. The National Transportation Safety Board were accompanied by the Alpharetta PD when they returned to the crash site on Tuesday. They continued their search from the past 24 hours and found no survivors. There were two passengers onboard the single-engine plane when it went down. The investigation is still ongoing and the Big Creek Greenway will remain closed from multiple entry points until further notice. (wsbtv.com)
  3. Smith’s Five & Ten Cent Store used to sit at the intersection of Elizabeth Way and Canton Street in Downtown Roswell. The store was opened by Ruben A. Smith (1911-2000) in 1946. The actual building that contained the store was built in either the late 1860s or in 1880. The original structure is thought to have been a stable for the Smith Plantation. The building is still standing and has been used as a drug store, barber shop, an art gallery, and a florist throughout the decades since the Five & Ten Cent Store closed. It now sits empty, and the interior is gutted entirely. The city wants the space to be brought to life again. The desire is to have a restaurant occupy this historic building to enhance the dining district in downtown. (appenmedia.com)
