🌱 Qualifying Week To Begin + The Southern Post + Roswell ADA Surveys

- Qualifying Week for the City of Roswell Municipal Special Election on November 8 begins next week. Residents who are interested in becoming a candidate for City Council Post 1 can go to city hall between August 1 - August 5 to start the process to qualify for this position. This open post is for a one year term. (facebook.com)
- Work on the Southern Post construction project on is steadily moving along. The Southern Post will be a six-acre, mixed-use development to be located at the old Southern Skillet property on Alpharetta Street. Redevelopment of the site began in January. Development Manager Aimee Adams noted that about 80% of the site work and utilities is completed. Officials anticipate to begin vertical construction the first two weeks of August. (appenmedia.com)
- The City of Roswell is set to begin preparations for a citywide ADA Transition Plan. This will help the city keep and maintain it's bike-friendly, walkability and ADA (Americans with Disabilities) compliance. The city has partnered with Bureau Veritas to conduct surveys to identify and record any noncompliance with accessibility regulations. These surveys will be conducted over the next few months. - Herschel Walker, GA Senate candidate for the Republican party, gave a speech about public safety on Friday in Alpharetta. He spoke outside of Alpharetta City Hall and also showed his support for law enforcement. Walker was joined by former US House Speaker Newt Gingrich, state Sen. Brandon Beach and National Border Council President Brandon Judd. He also promoted his current campaign for the GA Senate. (georgianewstime.com)

- Summer Family Canoe Day: The Chattahoochee Nature Center will be giving an introduction to canoeing. This is a family-friendly class, and parents with young children are asked to attend as well. CNC tutors will display paddling techniques and equipment features. (chattnaturecenter.org)
- Georgia Teachers Receive Back-to-School Help: Gov. Brian Kemp made an announcement on Friday July 29 that every full-time public school teacher in Georgia will receive a $125 supplement for supplies. The Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Program will pay for these supplements. (mdjonline.com)
- Summer Sippin' Cocktail Crawl: The Summer Sippin' Cocktail Crawl happens July 30 in East Roswell. A Cocktail Crawl ticket includes six (4-ounce) cocktail tokens to exchange at any of the 6+ participating East Roswell restaurants, party bus transportation, discounts on the specialty cocktails, and much more. There will also be an "after party" at From The Earth Brewery in Roswell. (ftebrewing.com)
- Goldbergs Fine Foods: Goldberg Fine Foods is a popular deli located in the Avalon. Goldbergs announced that it will close after end of business on July 31. The owner said the decision was based on business demands. (twitter.com)
