- A local Roswell restaurant owner is raising alarms after realizing that his establishment, along with many others in the city, has not been inspected for more than a year. Daniel Dailey, the owner of Johnny's Pizza on W. Crossville Road said his business has not had a visit from the health inspector for almost two years. He visited other restaurants and eateries in Roswell to discover that they had not been inspected as well. The Fulton County Public Health website corroborates this information and even shows that some restaurants on Canton Street in downtown Roswell haven't been inspected in over two years. Dailey says the unscheduled visits from the health department are crucial in their industry by keeping operators in check and ensuring safe and healthy environments for consumers. Per the FDA, restaurants should have random inspections at least once every six months to prevent foodborne illnesses. (11alive.com)
- The official agreement between Fulton County and the 15 cities within the county, regarding the reallocation of LOST funds was signed at the Central Library in Downtown Atlanta on December 14. The new agreement gives the county 9.9% of total revenues generated from LOST funds for a 10-year period. The remainder of the funds will be distributed to the cities in a staggered decrease over a 10-year period. An attorney representing 13 of the county’s cities, Andy Welch, told Appen Media reporters that “the leaders of the 15 Fulton cities and Fulton County found a solution despite the unnecessary conflict the LOST statute encourages. They all have served their citizens well.” (appenmedia.com)
- Jeffrey S. Littlefield, the new director of the Roswell Department of Transportation, was hired to oversee and correct various projects in Roswell. One of the most crucial projects tasked to Littlefield is to manage the engineering, design, implementation and maintenance of the controversial Oxbo Road endeavor. The reconstruction of Oxbo Road has been plagued with mismanagement and budget issues since the project began. The City of Roswell has not had a permanent transpotation director since Muhammad Rauf left the department in the fall of 2018. Other current transportation projects that Littlefield will help oversee is the Historic Gateway Project and the Ga. 400 Express Lanes Project. ( Paywall: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
