'Ring of Fire' Opens in Roswell
Georgia Ensemble Theatre premieres its new musical "Ring of Fire: The Johnny Cash Musical Show" tonight, April 12. The show runs through April 29.
(GET) continues its rich history of producing high energy, crowd-pleasing, foot-stomping musicals with the 19th season finale musical, "Ring of Fire: The Johnny Cash Musical Show," created by Richard Maltby, Jr. and conceived by William Mead.
Ring of Fire pays tribute to the songs of an American legend, the Man in Black himself, Johnny Cash. America celebrated Johnny Cash’s 80th birthday this year, and Ring of Fire is a testament to his long, successful career, featuring such popular songs as “A Boy Named Sue,” “I’ve Been Everywhere,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Hurt,” “I Walk the Line,” “Man in Black,” and of course, “Ring of Fire.”
Artistic Director Robert J. Farley, who spear-heads the production, says, “It is fascinating to realize that Johnny Cash never had a single fan base throughout his entire life, for that fan base was ever-changing over half a century of music. Whether you like country, rock-a-billy, gospel, rock ‘n roll, the prison songs, or his career comeback late in life, it is all here in Ring of Fire; life’s joys, challenges, and pain all sung by an outstanding ensemble of artists through the formidable spirit and great American music of the Man In Black himself, Johnny Cash.”
