Here are the top four stories in Roswell today:

  1. The city’s employee benefits package for the plan year of Oct. 1, 2022 through Sept. 30, 2023 has been approved by the Roswell City Council. This also came with approval for a one-year contract with UME/Gerber Life. The benefits package will not change, nor will there be any increases to the premiums for employees. The benefits package includes coverage for dental, vision, life and disability, voluntary life, voluntary accident and critical illness. ( Paywall: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  2. There has been updated information regarding the man who was injured at Roswell Area Park on Tuesday evening. The victim of the attack, Matthew Donald, spent a second night in ICU after being beaten and found unconscious on the trail. He is still on a ventilator, but his father updated media outlets that there is no need for extensive surgery or for his jaw to be wired shut. Police are still investigating and looking for a motive. The victim still had his wallet, keys and ID when he arrived at the hospital. Officers have also retrieved all data from the license plate reader at the park's entrance. (fox5atlanta.com)
  3. Roswell Creekways reminds residents that there are upcoming meetings on the bond referendum. Question One specifically will benefit trails and parks in the city. Seven Branches Creekway, Hog Wallow Creekway, and Vickery Creekway are all projects that fall under Question One. Additional funding could also allow other projects like the Big Creek Greenway extension. The next meeting will be on September 20 at East Roswell Park. (facebook.com)
  4. An Alpharetta man's identity was stolen and it was used to open a bank account. Per the Alpharetta PD, the man noticed his credit score was lower than it should be on August 29. He found that a Bank of America credit card had been opened in his name. The thief had already spent $11,200 on the card. There is no information on a suspect at this time. (appenmedia.com)
